Trying to deform some lines and they want to move in 3d. I am trying just to move looking from the top in x-y and its driving me crazy. Looked through the training videos with no luck. It is a .dxf file I opened and saved as a .bbcd file. i made sure I was on view top when doing to operation.
I not sure but if it is a 3d object I think you have to put the line you are trying to deform on the work cord plane then it will deform flat on that plane.
Hope that might help.
It was a dxf imported into BC. everything is flat and in the x-y plane. but when I try to deform a line it moves in all 3 axes. Check out the layer anchor in attached file and see what you think—oops wont let me upload a bobcad file. I put in a ticket with tech support and they closed it without a fix. Create something in BC and deform works. import a 2d .dxf into bc and it doesn’t recognize what plane you are in I guess!?!?!
Hum ….Don I drew a simple 3d box in TurboCad and saved it as a DXF and brought it in to Bobcad and put a user cord plane by using 3 point and was able to deform any line on that plane and it stayed on that work plane.
I just did it again and I’am having the same problem that you are having .
What I found is that when deforming the line it does look like it is moving in all 3 axis but when I left click OK, the deformed line will be on what plane I’m working with. Kind of crazy but O well.
When I try to deform it looks crazy and I cant get to position where I want it. when I clikd ok its in all axes. This sucks. I will need to be doing this often and?????? This is a $$$ sign I am trying to do and bobcad is suppose to be able to let me do it. And whats the deal with BoBCAD not letting us upload a BOBCAD file!! I was disappointed with BC that they closed my case without giving me any idea of why this is happening and it shouldn’t!!!!! I have been with them since 19 (pt48653 was my handle on the other forum)
Can’t upload a file ??
I thought they fixed that ? ?
Did you try compressing it to a .zip file, then upload ?
All else fails,,go to the Zone and start a thread , we all will get you sorted.
If you are looking at the geometry in an ISO view, the deform will work in 3D. If working strictly from the top or normal to another plane, it will hold true to the plane that you are working in. If working in an non standard view, when you can see all dimensions at once, it will deform the line around all 3 axis’.
Problem was me. the model was mainly splines and I was trying to use deform tool on them and it don’t work at all. Highlight spline, right click, modify entity-didn’t find that in the help!! I then use the deform corner. It was driving me crazy! i see myself using splines often. Don
