» Topic: Max Arc Radius

Does anyone know of a way to set a maximum machinable arc radius for BobCad? The Control on my machine has a max arc radius of 825″ and alarms out at radii above that. The program I just made in BCAD V26 output an arc with 990+” radius. I hate having to turn off Arc fit for one lousy radius. Program size is a big issue for me since I have to carve my programs into 1.44MB chunks to fit on floppy disks.

Many time you can reduce the arc size that outputs by increasing or reducing the arc fit tolerance. There is no way to force it to output a smaller radius via the post however.July 21, 2014 at 11:57 am #19012
What I want it to do is to force switch to line segments if the arc radius is greater than the specified MAX.
I would prefer this to be in the machine setup with max RPM and Feed rate settings.
I actually asked for this back in V22 when the VoluMill High Speed Pocketing came out. No surprise it fell through the cracks as most machines don’t have this arc radius limitation.July 21, 2014 at 3:36 pm #19014
This is currently not a capability in the software. As I stated previously, my adjust the arc fit tolerance, it should allow for smaller arcs than the 900+ arc.July 22, 2014 at 12:27 pm #19018
In my last post I was just stating what I’d like BobCad to do if the developers wanted to implement it. I e-mailed Bcad support about this and they said
a custom post script could be built to do this (the ones they charge $150/hr to write) but wasn’t sure.
