I’m new to this so bear with me.

I have a ton of DWG files I would like to use in BC. I have imported, translated, and cleaned up several line sets. I can extrude curves, but not solids. I can create offsets on some but not others. I cant do Boolean transformations.

What am i doing wrong. I’ve searched several forums, and not found any posts related to this.

By the way, your documentation really sucks and is grossly inadequate even for the price of the software. Where is the back button on the online help? It’s really stupid having to refresh the search to look at another topic. Whats up with all the online stuff for <25 and virtually nothing for 26? It’s a little reminiscent of Healthcare.gov

I’m a hobbyist and have a full time job so there wont be any time for online help for me during your business hours and I wont be taking off a week from work, driving 800 miles spending $600 for a 3 day seminar, $700 for a hotel and meals and giving up a week of vacation.

    Don’t suggest it.

Try going to CNCZone.com and go to the BobCad forums, you will find lots of useful info there, and also nice helpful people.

Well, after another 1/2 day wasted and scouring through hundreds of various forum posts and you-tube videos, I find myself no closer to figuring out how to use my drawings.

Clearly Multipatch surface and skin surface should close my drawings into a surface’s from which I could proceed to perform other operations. Well that is if they worked, or if there was documentation to help me figure out why there not working, or if Bobcad could function without causing the dred “Bobcad 26 Application has stopped working” message long enough to actually get something done. Hmm there’s and idea

Well going though the troubleshooter didn’t help that.

Windows up to date, video driver up to date, yada yada yada.

The computer seems to run my old turbocad, xacatimate, Alibre, and AlibreCam demo reasonably well. (Hmm there’s an idea($100 maintenance for Alibre and $1200 for an AlibreCam dongle, but I digress) So I guess I’ll load it onto something else, hmm we tried that already, didn’t get us any where, well it got us here but that doesn’t really count does it?

Found an interesting thread in one of the forums about “Why are there so many negative comments about Bobcad” or somthing to that affect. I was beginnig to have a pretty good idea about thatbefore I started reading, and well I didn’t have to read much before I figured out “I’m not alone”

    Jay,

Could you attach some of the file that you are working with? You can ZIP up the file and we can take a look at it on our side and let you know what we come up with. From what it sounds like there is some Bad Geometry. either Lines that aren’t connecting perfectly or Double lines can cause all the problems that you are having.

Send us one of the files and we can let you know what seems to be the issue.
