Has anyone else experienced an out of memory error when running the graphics simulation within Solidworks? The computer I have is well beyond the system requirement specs set out or recommended. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and how they overcame this issue. I have attempted to increase the virtual memory settings but no change, still receive the out of memory error.

I don’t know what your computer specs are, but I found that a 32 bit OS even with maxed out 4GB RAM just could not handle both Solidworks and BobCam on anything but simple non 3D parts. I went to 64 Bit Win7 with 16 GB of RAM and never have had memory issues again. Though generally my bottle neck was with toolpath generation.

Hi guys, is the error a “Bad Memory Allocation” if this is it then going to the Win 7 64 bit has solved the probelm for me. I’m running 4GB ram at the minute

You can also check to see what else is running in the task manager. It is not uncommon to have over 100+ processes running in the background disabling some of them may help.

Shortly after my original post my motherboard decided to take a permanent vacation. I ended replacing the motherboard and installing Windows 7 64 bit OS, upped the Ram to 8GB. No more out of memory errors. Prior to the crash I was running the software on 2 different computers and both had the same issue. I have since installed Win 7 64 bit on the other computer as well and the problem is gone on that one also. Seems it was an XP issue I guess.
    Thanks for the replies.
