How to Use the Customize Dialog Box
To turn toolbars on or off
Select
the Customize function from
the Preferences menu.
The
Customize dialog will appear.
Click
on the Toolbars tab at the
top of the box. The available toolbars will be listed in the field
on the left hand side of this dialog. Each toolbar has a check box
to the left of the name.
To
turn a toolbar on, place a check mark in the box next to the desired
toolbar name. To turn a toolbar off, remove the check mark.
Click
OK to close the Customize
dialog.
To create a custom toolbar
- Select the Customize function
from the Preferences menu.
- The Customize dialog will
appear.
- Click on the Toolbars tab
at the top of the box and click the New
button. This will display the New
Toolbar dialog.
- Type the name that will be assigned to the new toolbar into the
Toolbar Name field.
- Click OK to add the toolbar
and return to the Customize
dialog.
- The new toolbar will be added to the toolbars list in the Customize dialog, and it will appear
in the graphics area without
any buttons on it.
- Click on the Commands tab.
This tab displays a list of the default toolbars on the left and a
field with the buttons for the selected toolbar on the right.
- Click on the new toolbar in the left hand field to display the
available options.
- Click on a toolbar button icon in the right side and drag it to
the new toolbar in the graphics area.
This does involve dragging the button out of this dialog completely,
and onto the actual empty toolbar.
- The icon will then be added to the new toolbar.
- Repeat steps 8-10 for any number of icons that need to be added
to it.
- Steps 3-11 can be repeated to create any number of toolbars.
- Click OK to close the Customize dialog.
To edit an existing toolbar
- Select the Customize function
from the Preferences menu.
- The Customize dialog will
appear.
- Click on the Commands tab.
This tab displays a list of the default toolbars on the left and a
field with the buttons for the them on the right. Choose any new icons
to be added to the toolbar from these.
- Click on the toolbar in the left hand field to display the available
options contained in it.
- Click on a toolbar button icon in the right side and drag it to
the toolbar to be edited in the graphics
area. This does involve dragging the button out of this dialog
completely, and onto the actual toolbar.
- The icon will then be added to the toolbar.
- To remove an icon from the toolbar, simply click on it with the
mouse and drag it anywhere off of the toolbar.
- Repeat steps 4-7 for any number of icons that need to be added
to the toolbar or removed from it.
- Click OK to close the Customize dialog.
NOTE: In
the Customize dialog box, after creating a custom toolbar, it is displayed
in the Toolbars list, and not in the Categories list of the Commands tab.
