Geometry Selection
Introduction
The first step of the Mill 2 Axis Wizard is to assign geometry for the feature. All operations in the feature are performed on the selected geometry. This can be a single entity or multiple entities . The Geometry Selection dialog box appears similar to the following.

Geometry Selection
The Mill 2 Axis Feature use wireframe geometry such as lines, arcs, splines, points, surfaces/solids, or the edges of solids/surfaces. When selecting surface geometry, all of the edges (holes, bosses, islands) are extracted from the solid and they are automatically projected to a flat plane (Top of Feature).
- Select Geometry - Clicking the Select Geometry
button launches the Feature Geometry
Picking manager, which is used to assign wireframe entities,
surfaces/solids, or surface/solid edges to the feature.
Feature Geometry Picking
-
Feature Preview - shows a preview of the selected geometry extruded to the Top, and Depth of the current feature.
Feature Preview - removes the feature
preview.
Selected Geometry - list all the geometry selected for
the feature.
(Delete) - removes the selected
entity from the Selected Geometry list.
(Delete
All)- removes all entities from the Selected Geometry list.
Profile
Chains - lists all chains selected
for the feature.
(Reverse Direction) - reverses the
direction of the selected chain.
(Reverse All Directions) - reverses
the direction of all chains in the Profile Chains list.
Feature Parameters - This group allows
you to set the Top of the Feature, and the Depth of the Feature during
geometry selection.
Top of Feature
Top of Feature -
is the top of
the material for the feature. This value is incremental from the Machine
Setup or machining origin.
Pick Top - enables you to select the Top of Feature
by selecting geometry.
Total Depth
Total Depth - is the cutting depth
of the feature from the Top of Feature (as an absolute or positive value).
This value is applied to all operations in the feature.
Pick Depth - enables you to select the Total Depth by
selecting geometry.
OK - confirms the geometry and closes the Feature Geometry Picking manager.
Cancel - cancels geometry selection and closes the Feature Geometry Picking manager.
