Cross Hatch

Introduction

This topic will explain the Cross Hatch function, and the options found in it. This topic will also give brief description of the Snap Increment function, will describe where to find the function, provide quick steps on how to use it, and provide links to related topics.

The Cross Hatch Function

Cross Hatch is used to fill a contour, or closed chain of entities, with repeating line segments. This can be a hatch (single set of parallel fill lines) or it can be cross hatch (double set of parallel fill lines perpendicular to each other). To perform the function, select the closed chains, and adjust the parameters.

To open Cross Hatch:

  • In the Annotation group, of the Evaluate tab, click Cross Hatch.

The parameters display in the Data Entry Manager.

Selected Geometry

(Delete) - removes the highlighted item from the list.

(Delete All) - removes all entities from the list.

The list box will list the entities currently selected for the function.

Predefined Patterns

Select on of the predefined patterns below to use as a cross hatch pattern on the selected geometry.

Parameters

  • Cross Hatching
    - When this check box is selected while a pattern is in use which does not have a cross hatch, a cross hatch is added.
    - When this check box is cleared while a pattern is in use which has a cross hatch, the cross hatch is removed.

  • Spacing - sets the spacing used between the cross hatch lines.
  • Angle - sets the angle of the lines used in the cross hatch.

  • OK - finalizes the function.
  • Cancel - exits the function.

Quick Steps - Cross Hatch

  1. Launch the function

The Selected Geometry list automatically has focus.

  2. Select the geometry to create a cross hatch inside of.

The geometry is added to the Selected Geometry list.

The preview appears automatically when valid, closed chains are added to the list.

  3. Select the Predefined Patterns to use.

  4. Set the Parameters to use for the cross hatch.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Repeat as necessary.

  7. Click Cancel to exit the function.
