Machine Setup

Introduction

In lathe jobs the machine setup is always in the same, set location. The purpose of the Machine Setup page is to define the clearance values for the lathe job. In this page, you will set the face, and the outer and inner diameter clearances to be used.

Machine Setup

The Machine Setup dialog box for Lathe contains the clearance plane values for the job as explained next.

Important: BobCAM for SolidWorks uses the WCS (world coordinate system) for the default stock and machining origin location in the Stock Wizard and Machine Setup. If you do not create separate coordinate system, the WCS is used.

By default, the Machine Setup list has focus. To utilize a coordinate system that differs from the WCS, simply select it from the CAD Tree, or the graphics area.

Clearance

  • Face - sets the amount of clearance that is applied (in Z) for rapid movements along the stock face.

  • Diameter - sets the amount of clearance applied (in X) for rapid movements along the outside diameter of the stock.

  • Internal Diameter - sets the amount of clearance applied (in X) for rapid movements along the inside diameter of the stock.

After setting the parameters, click OK to close the dialog box and start creating Lathe Features.
