The Wire EDM 4 Axis Rough Cut Overview

Introduction

The Rough Cut operation, generally, is the first operation of the feature that often uses the highest power settings and cuts the rough shape of the feature. Many parts can be accurately cut with an acceptable finish using a single rough cut. When using a Glue Stop, which is cut by a Tab Cut operation, the Rough Cut operation cuts the entire feature except the Glue Stop portion. Exactly how this operation is performed is dictated by the settings in the subsequent pages of the operation. Each of the pages allows you to define the variables in order to tailor the machining process to fit your needs. Use the following links to jump to the specific topic for each available operation page:

Note: If you are creating a feature with a single Rough Cut operation, and the operation is not cutting the entire profile, it is due to the Glue Stop setting. To have the Rough Cut operation cut the entire profile, the Glue Stop parameter must be set to No Glue Stop.
