Reverse Surface Normal

The Reverse Surface Normal Function

The Reverse Surface Normal function changes the normal direction ofa selected surface.To perform the function, you select geometry and pressthe Spacebar to confirm the selection.

To open Reverse Surface Normal:

  • In the Reverse group, of the Utilities ribbon, click Reverse Surface Normal.

The parameters display in theData Entry Manager.

The Data Entry Parameters

Selected Geometry

 

(Delete) - removes the highlighted item from the Selected Geometry list.

(Delete All) - removes all entities from the Selected Geometry list.

The list will display all entities currently selected for the function.

  • OK - finalizes the function.

  • Cancel - exits the function.

Quick Steps - Reverse Surface Normal

  1. Open the function.

    The Selected Geometry list automatically has focus, and the surface normals are shown.

  2. Select the geometry which will have its surface normals reversed.

    The geometry is added to the Selected Geometry list.

  3. Click OK

    The surface normals are reversed.

    A Reverse Surface Normal feature is added to the CAD Tree.

  4. Repeat as necessary.

Tip: Instead of applying features to solids and surfaces more than once, go to the CAD Tree to edit the existing feature. Since all solid and surface moves, and modifications are stored in the CAD Tree, editing a feature is preferable to adding many more to achieve the desired result. This will keep file size down and help ensure files don't become slow to respond.

  1. Click Cancel to close the function.
