What's New in BobCAD-CAM V35 SP1

Introduction

The first update to our BobCAD-CAM V35 includes a couple of enhancements, and corrections to the user interface along with CAD, CAM, Simulation, and Posting.

Enhancement

User Interface

  • Updated the Tool Crib to allow the middle mouse wheel to scroll through the tool list.

General

  • Updated the file reading to allow SOLIDWORKS 2023 files to be imported.

Corrections

User Interface

  • Corrected an issue which prevented localization in the 3D Mouse group of the Settings dialog. This has been updated to display in the language selected during installation.

  • Corrected an issue which caused incorrect positioning of the Selection Mask if it was updated in the Settings dialog with multiple documents open.

  • Corrected an issue which caused text fields to highlight inconsistently when using Tab to move from field to field in the Leads page of several operations.

  • Corrected an issue which caused the Recognized Hole Features dialog to remain on top when other applications where opened.

  • Corrected an issue which prevented the CAD Tree name from matching the saved file name until the second save.

  • Corrected an issue which left black text in the Getting Started dialog when using Dark Theme.

  • Corrected status bar instructions mentioning the need to hold shift and click to view snap points. This is no longer necessary, and simply hovering over entities displays snap points.

CAD

  • Corrected an issue which caused the entity summary to specify the min/max values of a splines control points rather than the spline itself.

  • Corrected an issue with selecting arc centers for dimensioning.

  • Corrected an issue which prevented dashed geometry from printing properly in .pdf format.

  • Corrected an issue which caused a crash when editing control points on some complex splines.

  • Corrected several issues with the Selected Bodies option in the Scope section of the Extrude Boss, Extrude Cut, and Advanced holes functions.

    • Undo could not be used to remove the result after a function was used.

    • Result would not be visible until using refresh the CAD Tree.

    • The order of selection affected which bodies were affected by the function.

CAM

General

  • Corrected an issue which prevented some tools from being imported into the Tool Crib directly from a Machining Cloud job import.

  • Corrected an issue which left the Operations Manager available when entering into CAM Geometry picking. This manager has now been disabled during CAM Geometry picking to avoid confusion.

  • Corrected an issue which prevented advanced coolant options from appearing in the setup sheets.

  • Corrected an issue which prevented tool numbers from updating in the Operation Tree if the Tool Tree had focus while the tool numbers were updated in the Tool Crib.

  • Corrected an issue with pasting features from one file to another which could result in two tools with the same tool number.

  • Corrected an issue which prevented tool numbers in the Tool Tree from updating immediately when they were changed in the Verify Tool Assignment dialog. These values would update once the wizard was opened and closed again.

  • Corrected an issue which caused the default zero value to be applied to the MDI Axis value when re-entering the dialog. This would overwrite the previously entered value, in Mill and Lathe jobs requiring you to reenter the proper values.

  • Corrected an issue which prevented the Blank/Unblank All button in the quick access menu of the CAM Tree from working.

  • Corrected an issue in which editing a feature to insert a new operation between already existing operations in its machining strategy page could lead to the new operation being placed in the wrong position in the Operation Tree.

 

Mill

Mill Express
  • Corrected a rounding error in the default tool library for ball end mills which resulted in the error: "Diameter must be at least twice the corner radius length".

  • Corrected an issue which caused the document Snap Distance to interfere with placing the Default Chain Start Point in the desired position.

  • Corrected an issue which caused the Stock Remaining value to be changed in a Profile Rough operation using Side Roughing when opening V32 and older files.

  • Corrected an issue with the cycle times of patterned operations in the setup sheet which showed the total time of all instances for each individual instance.

  • Corrected an issue which caused the Facing feature to have it's Top of Feature and Depth recalculated when Recomputing from the Job, or Machine Setup level.

  • Corrected an issue in the Mill 2 Axis Engraving operation which caused an unnecessary toolpath move to 0,0,0, due to an empty chain.

 

Mill 3 Axis Premium

  • Corrected an issue which prevented the tabs on the Parameters page of the Mill Multiaxis feature from updating properly when the Toolpath Type was changed.

 

Lathe

  • Corrected an issue which caused a crash when using a chip break value larger than the toolpath entity length.

  • Corrected an issue which caused lathe tool holders to be drawn incorrectly.

  • Corrected an issue which caused incorrect groove toolpath with certain Feature page settings.

 

Mill Turn

  • Corrected an issue which caused a crash when adding a toolpath pattern to a Mill Turn job containing lathe features.

  • Corrected an issue which prevented the user input values for the step height of jaws from being used in Mill Turn machine definitions.

  • Corrected an issue which caused a toolpath pattern on an index system to simulate in an incorrect position.

 

Simulation

Simulation Standard
  • Corrected an issue which produced an error when attempting to use the Refine option in simulation.

  • Corrected an issue which caused chuck and jaws to be inverted in simulation when set to a clockwise index direction.

  • Corrected an issue which prevented the middle mouse button from working in the measure function.

  • Corrected an issue which produced an error when using the Refine option.

Posting

  • Corrected an issue which prevented Mill and Lathe posts from outputting manual values for X,Y,Z,A,B axes entered in the MDI page.

  • Corrected an issue which caused redundant output of rotation values in some cases.

  • Corrected an issue which caused 3 Axis Deburring operations to output with inverse feed when post question 441. Multiaxis feed type was set to 3 (=INV on 4/5 Axis).

  • Corrected an issue with the profile_end_x_top_of_thread variable which was not outputting lathe tapered threads correctly.

  • Corrected an issue which prevented the final retract move on a front facing pocket from being output in a Mill Turn job when a Lathe Tapping operation was output before it.
