Deburr 3 Axis Example 1

Introduction

This tutorial explains how to create a Deburr operation and adjust that operation to output in 3 Axis.

Note: In the example fileprovided, the Tool Crib is already equipped with the necessary tools and the stock and Machine Setup are already defined.The part is simulated using the BC_3x_Mill machine.

Part 1) Add the Feature

  1. Right-click MachineSetup and click Mill Multiaxis.

  2. In the MultiaxisWizard, click Deburring.

  3. Click Next>>to go to the Posting dialogbox.

Part 2) Define the Posting Parameters

  1. The WorkOffset # is automatically set to the value defined in the MachineSetup dialog box.

    You can change the value here to update the Work Offset # for the feature.

  2. Click Next>>to go to the Multiaxis Postingdialog box.

Part 3) Define the Multiaxis Posting Parameters

  1. Notice, at the top of the dialog box, that the Use Machine Settings checkbox is selected.

    This means that the Multiaxis Posting parameters for the feature usethe same parameters as the machine that is selected in Current Settings.

    You can clear the Use Machine Settingscheck box to define the Multiaxis Posting parameters of the featureseparately from the current machine settings.

    For this example, no changes are needed (more information is providedlater).

  2. Click Next>>to go to the Tool page.

Part 4) Define the Tool Parameters

  1. In the Tool page, click Tool Crib.

    The Tool Crib dialog appears.

  2. Click ENDMILL FINISH and select the finishing tool.

    At the bottom of the dialog box, click OK.

  3. Click Next>>to go to the Parameters.

Part 5) Surface paths

  1. In the Geometry input group, click the ellipses button next to Part surfaces.

    The Mill Multiaxis wizard disappears and the Feature Geometry Picking dialog opens.

  2. Select the check box for Select whole bodies.

  3. Select the model.



  4. Click OK.

    The Mill Multiaxis Wizard returns.

  5. In the Surface Quality group, set the Cut tolerance to 0.001.

    This will reduce the calculation time and can be adjusted after we obtain the desired result.

Part 6) Tool axis control

  1. At the top of the wizard, click the Tool axis control tab.

  2. In the Tilting group, set the Machining type to 3 axis.

  3. Click Compute.

  1. To view the program, in the Quick access menu of the CAM Tree, click Simulation.

  2. Click Play to view the current operation.



    Notice the operation is also trying to do the four vertical edges as well.

  3. To close simulation, in the menuSimulation group of the Milling Ribbon, click Exit Simulation.

Part 10) Edit the feature

  1. Notice the toolpath on the corners of the part.



  2. Right-click the feature and select Edit.

  3. Click Parameters.

  4. In the Geometry input group of the Surface paths tab, click the ellipses button next to Exclude edges.

    The Mill Multiaxis wizard disappears and the Re/Select Geometry dialog opens.

  5. Select the corner edges.



    Repeat this on the other side of the part.

  6. Click Compute.


This concludes the example.
