Creating Stock Materials and Setting Feeds and Speeds
Introduction
In this tutorial you learn how to create stock materials and how toset the feed rates and spindle speeds used with the stock material whenit is selected as the default.You also learn how to further define thefeed rates that are used for milling features based on the tool type selectedfor the feature.
Example
Part 1) How to create Stock Materials

To access the StockMaterial Library, in the CAMtree, under Stock, or Stock for Lathe Jobs, right-click*Stock Material Name*, and click Edit.
The Stock Material Librarydialog displays. -
To create a Material Group, in theMaterial Group, click AddGroup.
The Add New Material Groupdialog displays.
To name the group, in the MaterialGroup Name box, type My Materials,and click OK. -
To add a new stock material to the group,in the Material Group, clickMy Materials.
In the Material List area,click Add Material.
The Stock Material Feeds and Speedsdialog displays. -
To name the new stock material, in the Stock Material Name box, type Material 1.
The next step is to define the spindle speeds and feed rates for Material 1. -
To define the spindle speeds and feed ratesfor Material 1, in the Tool Materials list, click HSS, and in the GeneralFeeds and Speeds group, type the desired values.
If a tool material is not selected, the values are not stored. -
To create custom feeds for each tool operation,select the CustomizedFeeds and Speeds Based on Tool Type and Operation check box.
The parameters in this section are now available.Type the values for all desired custom feeds and speeds for each tooloperation.
When finished, click OKto close the Stock Material Feeds andSpeeds dialog.
The new stock material displays in the MaterialList of the Stock Material Librarydialog.
Important: Afteryou have created custom feeds and speeds, if you clear the CustomizedFeeds and Speeds Based on Tool Type and Operation check box, adialog appears to confirm.The reason is that if you accept, all customvalues are deleted and replaced with default values.To keep your customvalues, leave the checkbox selected.

To modify the material, in the MaterialList, click Material 1,and click Modify Material.
The Stock MaterialFeeds and Speeds dialog appears for you to modify the material.
In the Tool Materialsgroup, click Add New Tool Material.
In the Add NewTool Material dialog, type Carbide,and click OK.
You can now specify all the feeds and speeds forcarbide tools when using this stock material.
When finished, click OK.
Part 2) How to use the Favorites folder
In the event that you have specific stockmaterials that you use often, you may not want to navigate through theMaterial Groups each time youneed to find one of them.In this case you can add them to the Favoritesfolder.

To movethe newmaterial tothe Favorites folder, in theMaterial Group, click My Materials.

In the MaterialList, select Material 1,and click Move to Favorites.

The Favoritesfolder is automatically created in the Material Group list.
Notice that the material is completely removed fromthe current location.
Part 3) How to set the Default Stock Material

To assign a stock material as the default(which displays in the CAM Tree), in the MaterialList group, select the desired stock material, and click Set as Default.
All milling features created use this defaultstock material, for example, Material 1.
