Lathe Tap Parameters
Introduction
This topic will explain the Parameters page of the Lathe Tap operation and all the options found in it. This topic will also provide a link to the next topic.
The Parameters page
The Parameters page of the Lathe Tap operation contains the variables needed for the feature.
Operation Parameters
- Use Cutting Conditions
Select the check box to use the values that are automatically calculated
using the Cutting Conditions and selected feature parameters. For example,
this calculates the Overall Depth and Effective Depth for this operation.
Clear the check box to manually change the values that were automatically
calculated. - Effective Depth - the depth from the Top of Feature (face of the feature), excluding the tool tip.
- Overall Depth - total depth from the Top of Part (face of the feature), including the tool tip. This value is output in the posted NC program.
Cycle Type
- Single Depth -
outputs a G81.
- Peck
- outputs a G83. The First Peck (%) parameter (Cutting
Conditions dialog box) allows the system to automatically
apply a peck cycle based on material selected and the depth of the
hole. For example, if the value of First Peck (%) is set to 300 percent,
the system outputs a G81 until the depth of the hole is 3 times the
diameter of the drill. When the First Peck (%) is met, the system
outputs the G83 cycle.
