Apply to All Features / Operations

Introduction

The process of creating repetitive machining features in the CAM Wizards can be greatly improved with the use of Apply to All. There are two main purposes: Apply to All Features, and Apply to All Operations.

Apply to All Features

The Apply to All Features option found in the CAM Wizards is used to apply the current settings of one feature to all features in the CAM Wizard. This is used, for example, when creating Mill Hole, or Mill Thread features in which you select more than one hole size. After confirming the geometry selection in the first page, the system automatically adds the necessary number of features to the CAM Wizard. When you reach the Machining Strategy page of the wizard, Apply to All Features becomes available. Apply to All Features can be used to assign the current Machining Strategy to all other features in the CAM Wizard.

Apply to All Features Example Steps:

  1. In the Geometry Selection page of the wizard, assign the feature geometry. (This example is for selecting more than one hole size.)

Make any necessary changes to the parameters, and click Next>>.

  2. In the Feature page of the wizard, assign the feature parameters for the first feature, and click Next>>.

  3. In the Machining Strategy page of the wizard, select the proper Template, and define the Current Operations for the first feature.

Notice, in the lower-left corner of the dialog box, Apply to All Features displays.

  4. Click Apply to All Features.

The Machining Strategy that you defined is now assigned to all features in the CAM Wizard.

Apply to All Operations

The Apply to All Operations options found in the CAM Wizards is used to apply the current settings of one operation to all other similar and/or identical operations contained in the feature. This is used, for example, when defining the leads of the feature operations. You can set the leads type and values for one operation, and then click Apply to All Operations to assign the same leads parameters to other operations in the feature that contain the same parameters.

Apply to All Operations Example Steps:

  1. Create a CAM feature, select geometry, define the feature parameters, and define the machining strategy for the feature.

  2. For this example, we have more than one Profile operation assigned to the feature.

Define the parameters of the first Profile operation. Once you have defined any parameters that you want to share with the other Profile operations, for example, the Leads, click Apply to All Operations.

The settings that you defined for the first Profile operation are automatically assigned to the other Profile operations. If there are any other operations that contain the same parameters, they are also assigned to those operations.
