Chamfer Drill Parameters

Introduction

This topic explains the operational parameters found in the Hole Wizard for the Chamfer Drill Operation, and provides a link to the next topic.

Hole Groups (Mill Features)

Important: When defining the parameters (the Parameters page of the wizard) for drilling operations, be sure to select a group in the Hole Groups list before changing the parameters. Then make sure to define the parameters for all groups in the feature. However, note that center drill and chamfer operations do not have a Hole Groups list as these operations automatically use the same parameters for all groups in the feature.

Chamfer Drill Operation Parameters

Operation Parameters

  • Chamfer Depth - is the vertical depth of the chamfer. The value must be greater than 0 or the operation is not applied.

Cycle Type

  • Single Depth - outputs a G81.

  • Peck - outputs a G83. The First Peck (%) parameter (Cutting Conditions dialog box) allows the system to automatically apply a peck cycle based on material selected and the depth of the hole. For example, if the value of First Peck (%) is set to 300 percent, the system outputs a G81 until the depth of the hole is 3 times the diameter of the drill. When the First Peck (%) is met, the system outputs the G83 cycle.

  • Fast Peck - outputs a G73. When the First Peck (%) is met, the system outputs the G73 cycle.

    • Override Auto Peck
Select the check box to enter the following peck values.
Clear the check box to use the calculated peck values.

      • First Peck Depth - the first peck depth in the peck cycle.

      • Peck Depth - the depth of the peck.

      • Number of Pecks - sets the amount of pecks that occur.
