Link: Deburring

Introduction

This topic will explain the options found in the Link tab of the Deburring operation.

The Link tab allows you to control the clearance area and values, the links, and the leads of the toolpath.

Clearance area

  • Type

    • Automatic - The system automatically determines the clearance area type, position and dimension. It tries to maintain the most suitable setting for each pattern.

    • Plane - With this option the planar area is lifted above the workpiece at the specified height and desired direction. The direction is determined by the direction of the plane normal vector.

      • Height - specifies the position of the plane clearance area by allowing the system to calculate automatically, or by a user defined value.

    •  Cylinder - defines the clearance area as a cylinder.

      • Cylinder radius - sets the radius of the cylindrical clearance area.

      • Through point - defines the location of the cylindrical clearance area axis.

    • Sphere - defines the clearance area as a sphere.

      • Sphere radius - sets the radius of the spherical clearance area.

      • Position - sets the center of the spherical clearance area. Select from automatic, or user defined.

  •  Direction - defines the normal of the clearance plane/cylinder.

    • Auto - allows the system to define the appropriate normal for the plane/cylinder clearance area.

    • X-Axis - the tool retracts parallel to the X-axis.

    • Y-Axis - the tool retracts parallel to the Y-axis.

    • Z-Axis - the tool retracts parallel to the Z-axis.

    • User defined direction - once this option is selected, click to open the Pick dialog box. You can type coordinates, or click Pick to select line or point geometry to set the direction vector.

  • Rapid distance - is the total distance the tool will move along the tool axis prior to the clearance position move.

  • Feed distance- is the height at which the tool movement changes from rapid to feedrate.

  • Air move safety distance - The minimum safe distance between the tool air movements and the drive or check surfaces.

  • Smooth corners

    - With this check box selected, the system rounds sharp angle changes with a radius using the specified value.

    - With this check box cleared, sharp angle changes are allowed.

  • Type - connect two consecutive segments with either:

    • Retract to clearance area - causes the tool to retract to the specified clearance area between the two consecutive segments.

    • Clearance blend spline - creates a blended spline move between the two consecutive segments.

  • Use rapid feed rate

    - With this check box selected, rapid motions on the clearance area and rapid distance are converted into a feed motion with the specified value.
    - With this check box cleared, these rapids are not adjusted.

Lead in/out

  • Radius - creates a tangential arc using the specified value.

  • Min. radius - specifies the smallest allowable arc if the desired radius cannot be used without collision.
