Maximum Distance

Introduction

This topic will explain where the Maximum distance option can be found, will explain the Maximum Distance option itself, and provide animated examples.

To access the Maximum distance option in the Mill Mulitaxis Wizard:

 

  • In the Surface quality group of the Surface paths tab, click the Advanced button.

    The Advanced options for Surface Quality dialog launches.

    • Select the Maximum distance option in the Point distribution group.

Maximum Distance

The Cut Tolerance controls how many toolpath points are used to create a toolpath. The Maximum distance option allows you to specify a distance that is not exceeded between toolpath points. If you set the maximum distance to five units, then the toolpath points are created every five units; although, there may be more toolpath points within this distance.

Parameters

  • Maximum Distance

Select the check box to use the value specified as the maximum distance between toolpath points.

Clear the check box to turn off this option.

Example

  • The example shows a toolpath on a flat surface. The toolpath points are only generated on the end points of the face.



  • The toolpath now has a maximum distance of 0.5 units.
