Save Whole Emboss As a BobART Surface File (.bbas) Example 1

Introduction

This topic explains how to save an entire embossed model as a BobART Surface File. The BobART Surface file saves the entire model, including the stock surface (see notes later in this topic), in a single file. This file can then be used to create an Emboss from BobART Surface (.bbas) File feature.

The following is an example model that we use to illustrate the process. When you are ready to save an embossed model, use the steps explained in this topic.

Save Whole Emboss to a BobART Surface (.bbas) File

  1. In the BobART Tree, right-click Emboss Model, and click Save Whole Emboss to a BobART Surface (.bbas) File.

  2. In the Save As dialog box, select the folder in which you want to save the file.

  3. In the File Name box at the bottom of the dialog box, type the name of the file, for example, Acoustic Guitar.

  4. To save the file, click Save.

The file can be used to create an Emboss from BobART Surface File feature.

When you create a new feature using the BobART surface file, you can scale the size of the model as needed.

Notes About the Stock Surface/Non-Emboss Area

The Remove Non-Emboss Area option is found in the Stock Parameters dialog box.

  • When Remove Non-Emboss Area is cleared, the non-embossed area (stock surface) is included in the saved model.  (It is also included in new features that are created with the BobART surface file. This is shown in the following image.)

  • When Remove Non-Emboss Area is selected, the non-embossed area of the model is not included in the saved model. (The Remove Non-Emboss Area option can be used when a new feature is created with the BobART surface file, as shown in the following image.)
