The Cut Off Feature

The Cut Off dialog box allows you to change the parameters of a Cut Off feature to suit the part to be machined.

System Compensation

This box allows you to determine whether or not to use collision detection when generating the toolpath for the Cutoff feature.  Tool width is always compensated for, but the system also compensates for the tool nose radius when System Compensation is turned on.

Machine Compensation

This box allows you to select the compensation type that is output in the posted program for the Cutoff feature.  There are two possible choices:

      • Off - This means that no commands are output for tool nose radius compensation

      • On - This means that the appropriate compensation command is output based on tool orientation and the direction of the chain.

Corner Break

      • Chamfer Length - The value here indicates the length of the chamfer to be cut.

      • Chamfer Angle - This value sets the angle of the chamfer.

      • Fillet Radius - This value allows you to set the radius of the corner on the cut part.

The Insert Tab

      • Corner Radius - This value indicates the radius of the tool nose.

      • Tool Width - This value indicates the width of the Cut Off tool.

      • Theoretical Z - This value is defined as the imaginary sharp point of the tool in the Z-axis. This value is generated automatically when the tool orientation and nose radius are input into the system and is not normally changed.

      • Theoretical X - This value is defined as the imaginary sharp point of the tool in the X-axis. This value is generated automatically when the tool orientation and nose radius are input into the system and is not normally changed.

      • Tool Label - This box is used to add a name to the tool, in the tool list, so it can be easily identified.

Orientation Tab - This tab allows you to define the way the tool faces the part.

      • Orientation Number - This box allows you to select a number. Each number corresponds to a direction that the tool can point. This selection influences the ability of the tool to move into locations that are restricted by adjacent geometry.

Mach Info Tab - This tab allows you to enter specifics about the tool being defined.

      • Offset Register - This box indicates the register on the machine that stores the offset values.

      • Turret Position - This box indicates the location in the tool changer or turret that in which the tool resides.

      • Home Position Z - This box indicates the home position in the Z-axis. The system utilizes this number when moving the tool to a home position and also uses this position to determine the starting location of the tool.

      • Home Position X - This box indicates the home position in the X-axis. The system utilizes this number when moving the tool to a home position and also uses this position to determine the starting location of the tool.

Select Tool - This button allows you to select a previously defined and saved tool. All of the values input for the tool are applied to the Cut Off operation.

Save - This button allows you to save the settings in this dialog box as the default settings for future parts.
