The Spline Fit function creates splines that are fit between other entities. The spline is influenced by the selected control points, but does not pass through each point. To perform the function, you click wireframe entities (snap points) in the graphics area to define each spline point (or control point).
Spline Fit can also be used to create a Spline from Curves.
Spline Fit supports the use of the snap increment when selecting the spline control points. The snap increment allows you to get precise results when using mouse selection and helps to reduce data entry modifications.
To learn more, view Snap Increment.
To open Spline Fit, do one of the following:
In the Splines menu, click Fit.
On the CAD toolbar, click the down arrow and click the icon.
Right-click anywhere in the graphics area, point to CAD, Splines, and click Fit.
The parameters display in the Data Entry tab of the Data-CAM Tree Manager.
The spline is created using only mouse selection.
1 Open the function and click to select a snap point (or anywhere in the graphics area) to select the first spline control point.
You can modify the snap increment value or turn it off while selecting control points.
2 Click to select each control point in the desired order and direction to create the spline.
3 To finish the current spline entity, press Spacebar.
4 Repeat this process to create more spline entities.
5 To close the Data Entry Manager, click Cancel.
