Thermal Distance

Introduction

The Thermal Distance option gives you a way to ensure that your cuts are far enough apart to keep heat from building up to a point that the material will warp.

 

Thermal Distance - is shown below in orange. The actual value entered, which is 0.375 in the first case, is offset from the first parts toolpath. This is checked against the next parts offset in the cutting sequence. If the offsets don't intersect, the sequence will be obeyed.

When the offset of the finished parts toolpath, which is 1.0 in the following image, touches, or overlaps the offset of the next part in the sequence, that part is skipped and the next part in the sequence is attempted.
