Using View - Blank and Unblank
Blank Example
The Blank command in the View menu is used to hide geometry that you
select from the graphics area. This can be used to temporarily hide any
geometric entities. (Unblank is then used to show any geometry that was
hidden using Blank).
- In the File menu, click
New.
- In the Solids menu, click
Cube.
- In the Data Entry tab,
click OK to create the default
cube as shown in the CAD preview.
- In the Data Entry tab under
Origin, set the X
value to 3.00 and set the
Y value to 3.00.
- Click OK to create the
second cube as shown in the CAD preview.
- In the View menu, click
Blank. (The Data Entry tab
displays only the Cancel button with directions to use the function.)
- In the graphics area, click the first cube to select it. (You can
click any number of entities to hide when using Blank.)
- To confirm the selection, right-click anywhere in the graphics
area, and click OK. (You can
also press Spacebar.) The cube is hidden from view.
- To finish the function, click Cancel.
You then use Unblank to show the geometry
that was hidden using Blank.
Unblank Example
The Unblank command in the View menu is used to show geometry that was
previously hidden using Blank.
(This example is an extension of the Blank example in this topic.)
- After using Blank to hide geometry, in the View
menu, click Unblank. The graphics
area only displays the geometry items that were previously hidden
using Blank.
- Click the geometry (cube) that was hidden earlier to select it.
[You can select any number of hidden entities that you want to show
(Unblank)].
- To confirm the selection, right-click anywhere in the graphics
area, and click OK. (You can
also press Spacebar.)
The geometry is no longer hidden in the graphics
area.

Blank and Unblank are one way to hide and show geometry in the graphics
area. You may otherwise want to create layers to hold the geometry that
you create. You can then hide and show the layers to define what geometry
is displayed in the graphics area. The best method to use is whatever
method you prefer or whatever method is the most efficient for your current
task/workflow.
