The Hole Drilling and Tapping Operations

Introduction

This topic contains the operation parameters found in the Nesting Wizard for all available drilling operations.

Center Drill Operation Parameters

Operation Parameters

  • Depth - the total depth from the Top Of the Part.

  • Center Diameter - diameter of the center drilled hole on the face of the material being drilled.

  • Center Angle - the inclusive angle of the center drill for this operation.

Drill Operation Parameters

Operation Parameters

  • Use Cutting Conditions

Select the check box to use the values that are automatically calculated using the Cutting Conditions and selected feature parameters. This calculates the Overall Depth and Effective Depth for the operation.

Clear the check box to manually change the values that were automatically calculated.

  • Effective Depth - isthe depth from theTop of Feature, excluding the tool tip.

  • Overall Depth - is the total depth from theTop of Part, including the tool tip. This value is output in the posted NC program.

Cycle Type

  • Single Depth - outputs a G81.

  • Peck - outputs a G83. The First Peck (%) parameter (Cutting Conditions dialog box) allows the system to automatically apply a peck cycle based on material selected and the depth of the hole. For example, if the value of First Peck (%) is set to 300 percent, the system outputs a G81 until the depth of the hole is 3 times the diameter of the drill. When the First Peck (%) is met, the system outputs the G83 cycle.

  • Fast Peck - outputs a G73. When the First Peck (%) is met, the system outputs the G73 cycle.

  • Override Auto Peck

Select the check box to enter the following peck values.

Clear the check box to use the calculated peck values.

    • First Peck Depth - the first peck depth in the peck cycle.

    • Peck Depth - the depth of the peck.

    • Number of Pecks - the number of pecks that occur.

Chamfer Drill Operation Parameters

Operation Parameters

  • Chamfer Depth - is the vertical depth of the chamfer. The value must be greater than 0 or the operation is not applied.

Cycle Type

If Boring 1, 2, or 3 is defined in the post processor, the selected option is output in the NC program.

  • Boring One

  • Boring Two

  • Boring Three

If there are more operations in the nesting job, click Next>> to go on to the next operation. If there are no more operations, click Compute to nest the parts and load the Nesting Job. If remnant sheets are being used this will launch the Remnant Sheet dialogue box.
