The Wire EDM Wizard Wire Settings

Introduction

The Wire settings of the Wire EDM Wizard contains parameters that allow you to define a portion of the lead-in of the first operation of a feature as a start pass. You can then apply separate cutting conditions values for the start pass. The wire diameter for the job is provided as an informational display and there is an option to override the rapid feedrate for the feature.

Wire

Wire Parameters

The following parameters are available in the Wire page of the Wire EDM Wizard.

  • Wire Diameter - is an informational display of the wire diameter of the job.

  • Enable Starting Cutting Conditions

Select the check box when you want to define a portion of the first pass of the first operation's lead-in as a start pass. You can then set the cutting conditions for the start pass separately from the settings for the first operation of the feature. The Cut Length, Power Setting, and Feedrate become available for you to type the values used for the start pass.

Clear the check box when using the same cutting conditions values for the entire first pass of the first operation.

    • Cut Length - determines the length of the start pass when using Enable Starting Cutting Conditions.

Important: The Cut Length parameter must be less than or equal to the lead-in distance for the first pass of the first operation. If you enter a value greater than the lead-in distance, the posted code will only output the length of the lead-in.

    • Power Setting - determines the power setting of the Start Pass (lead-in).

    • Feedrate - determines the feedrate of the Start Pass (lead-in).

  • Rapid Feedrate

Select the check box when you want to override the rapid feedrate from the cutting conditions database. The Rapid Feedrate box becomes available for you to type the value used for the feature.

Clear the check box when you want to use the rapid feedrate from the cutting conditions database for the feature.
