Roller Cam

Introduction

This topic will explain the Roller CAM function, willexplain where to find the function, and explain the options found in it.This topic will also give a brief description of theSnap Increment function, and providelinks to related topics.

The Roller CAM Function

The Roller Cam function creates a roller cam based on the parametersthat you define it the Data Entry Manager.You first define the Roller, Base,and Shaft Radius, as well as the Origin in the Data Entry Manager.When youclick OK, the CAMS Creation-From Displacement Diagram dialog box is displayedfor you to further define the cam parameters.

Snap Increment

This function support the use of the snap increment when selecting the location of the entities. The snap increment allows you to get precise results when using mouse selection and helps to reduce data entry modifications.

To open Roller CAM:

  • In the Shapes group, of the Create 2D ribbon,click the down arrow under Gear and click Roller CAM.

The parameters display in the Data Entry Manager.

The Data Entry Parameters

Parameters

  • Roller Radius - sets heradius of the follower for the cam that is created.
  • BaseRadius - sets the base circle radius from which all rise andreturn segments are measured.

  • ShaftRadius - sets the radius of the shaft at the rotational centerof the cam.

  • Tolerance - allows you to set a specific tolerance.

  • More Parameters - launches the The CAMS Creation-From Displacement Diagram Dialog Box

Origin

  • X - sets the X axis location of the entity origin.
  • Y - sets the Y axis location of the entity origin.
  • Z - sets the Z axis location of the entity origin.

  • OK - finalizes the function.

  • Cancel - exits the function.
