The Quick Access Toolbar

The Quick Access Toolbar, by default, is located at the top left of the user interface. The majority of the menus on the Quick Access Toolbar deal with basic file options.

The Icons

  • - The Application Button will always be found in the top left of the application, and gives you access to:

    • Restore - When the BobCAD-CAM window is maximized, the Restore button will return the BobCAD-CAM application to its previous window size.

    • Move - When you click Move, you will be able to use the arrow keys on your keyboard to alter the location of the application.

    • Size - When you click Size, you will be able to use the arrow keys on your keyboard to adjust the size of the application.

    • Minimize - will hide the application window.

    • Maximize - will change the size of the application to full screen.

    • Close - will close the application. If changes have been made to any open files since the last time they were saved, a dialog box is displayed, which will give you a chance to save each file before the application is closed.

  • New - The New command opens a new file. This does not close any files that are currently open.

  • Open - The Open command is used to open a previously saved file. The Open dialog box displays for you to locate and select the file to open. To view the supported file types or to find a file that isn't showing, click the arrow next to Files of Type. The list of supported file types is shown, and you can select the type of files that you want to display in the dialog box, such as All Supported Files.

  • Save - The Save command is used to save any changes that were made to the current file. If the file has not already been saved, the Save As dialog displays for you to name the file and select the location to which the file is saved, Once the file has been saved, the Save command saves the file without opening a dialog box.

  • Save As - The Save As command opens the Save As dialog box for you to name the file, select the file type, and select the location to which the file is saved. The file type is set to BobCAD files (.bbcd) by default. To view what other types of files can be saved, click the Save As type arrow to view the list. You can then select the type of file format in which the file is saved.

  • Settings - Opens The Settings dialog to allow you to control system settings and settings for current and future documents.

  • Undo - The Undo command is used to remove (undo) the previously performed action. You are not limited to one level of undo. You can undo as many actions that are available since the opening of the file. The software saves all actions that can be undone for the current part of file, but only while the file is open.

  • Redo - The Redo command is used to revert to the previous condition of the file, prior to the Undo command being used.

  • Lua Debug - Debugging capabilities have been added to the BobCAD-CAM product family directly after the release of BobCAD-CAM V34 SP0. All builds of BobCAD-CAM products created after 9/10/2021 will contain the debugging functionality. For more information, see the dedicated help system: BobCAD-CAM Lua plug-in Help System.
