Toolpath Statistics

Introduction

The Toolpath Statistics dialog shows value information such as Time Data, Toolpath Extents, Toolpath Data, and Speeds and Feeds. This topic will explain how to launch the dialog, how to view the data the dialog is able show, and what data is being shown.

The Toolpath Statistics Tree

This is essentially a recreation of the CAM Tree in BobCAD-CAM. The main difference here, is that we are only interested in Operation data. Therefore, the only items listed are items that could house operations.

Job - When the Milling, Turning, or Mill Turn Job is clicked, the data shown in the fields will represent all operations in the job.

Machine Setup - When a particular Machine Setup is clicked, the data shown in the fields will represent all operations under that particular Machine Setup.

Groups -When a Group is clicked, the data shown in the fields will represent all operations under that Group.

Indexing -When an Indexing System is clicked, the data shown in the fields will represent all operations under that Indexing System.

Wrapping Groups - When a Wrapping Group is clicked, the data shown in the fields will represent all operations under that Wrapping Group.

Features - When a Feature is clicked, the data shown in the fields will represent all operations in that Feature.

Operations - When an Operation is clicked, the data shown in the fields will be from that Operation. Clicking on an Operation will also show the Speeds and Feeds for that Operation.

Time Data

This group will show the machining time for the various portions of the job.

Feed Time - looks at the Cutting Feedrate defined in the tool page and the total length of all the toolpath entities that are feed moves to give you the total feed time.

Rapid Time -  looks at the Rapid Feed defined in the Machine Parameters of the CAM Defaults / Current Settings dialog and the total length of all the toolpath entities that are rapid moves to give you the total rapid time.

Total Time - shows the sum of the Feed and Rapid times.

Toolpath Extents

The Toolpath Extents group defines the 3 Dimensional area the toolpath is contained in. This area is relative to the Machine Setup. The data in the Toolpath Extents group, which is represented in the table below, shows the Minimum and Maximum values listed for the X, Y, and Z axes.

Axis Minimum Maximum Total
X
Y
Z

Toolpath Data

The purpose of the Toolpath Data group is to give an entity count on the toolpath itself.  This is done by analyzing the entities of the toolpath to get counts of lines moves and arcs moves and note which of each are feed moves and which are rapids. The results are listed.

# of Entities Lines Arcs Total
Feed
Rapid
Total

Speeds and Feeds

The Speeds and Feeds group will only be populated if an individual operation is selected from the Tree.

Spindle Speed - shows the Spindle Speed value set on the tool page of the operation.

Plunge Feed - shows the Plunge Feed value set on the tool page of the operation.

Cutting Feed - shows the Cutting Feed value set on the tool page of the operation.
