Run Software in Demo Mode

Introduction

In this topic, you will learn how to set up BobCAM for SolidWorks as a trial demo. To run the software in Demo Mode, use the registration wizard to register the software as a 30 day demo. This is accomplished by turning on the BobCAM for SolidWorks add-in and then using the registration wizard to, first, request a demo license, and then to open the attachment that you receive in reply. An active Internet connection is required on the computer that is being registered. Follow the steps in this topic to register your software.

Demo Mode has the following restrictions:

  • Machine communication (DNC< etc.) will not run.
  • Only the first 20 lines of any program can be posted.
  • Files created in Demo mode cannot be loaded directly into BobAM in licensed mode. (Files created in licensed mode can be viewed in demo mode, but if the file is saved while in demo mode, it cannot be re-opened in licensed mode.)

1) Turn on BobCAM for SolidWorks

  1. Open SolidWorks. Go to Tools > Add-Ins... and make sure that the BobCAM for SolidWorks add-in is turned on in the Add-Ins dialog box.

The Unregistered dialog box appears and you are prompted with three choices:

    • Run software in Demo Mode - activates all modules of the software for a 30 day period. Code output is limited to headers and end blocks only.
    • Register automatically via the internet - walks you through licensing a network, or node locked license over the internet.
    • Register manually via email - walks you through licensing a network, or node locked license through a separate computer with internet connection. This method utilizes email and USB Flash Drive file transfers between the station to be licensed and the station with an internet connection.

2) Request Demo license

  1. With Run Software in Demo Mode selected, click Next>>.

The Request Demo License dialog boxappears.

  2. Enter your email address and click the Request Demo License button.

3) Open the Attachment with Registration Wizard

  1. You receive an email with an attachment in response to your request.

Save the attached file and take note of the location in which it is saved.

  2. Click Open... under step 3 of the Request Demo License dialog box.

The File Open dialog box appears.

Locate the attachment you saved and click Open.

  3. The File Open dialog box closes and you are returned to the Request Demo License dialog box.

    Click Next>>.

  4. The License Status dialog box appears.

The software is now registered as a demo for the next 30 days.
