The BobCAM milling features provide you with a number of options to aid machining with a mill. There are several aspects that you need to be familiar with prior to machining parts.
Milling Tools - Milling Tools contains all of the settings relating to the tool library and the general machine settings, including post processing. You should take the time to review this before machining parts.
Milling Stock - Milling Stock allows you to change the material being machined and also serves as the placeholder for all milling features that have been inserted into the tree.
BobCAM supports several different machining strategies based on the needs of the part. Generally, they are divided into three categories. Follow the following links to learn more.
2D Milling - The 2D features are not only 2-dimensional, they are for any parts that do not require a continuously moving or adjusting Z-axis.
3D Milling - The 3D features are for parts that require a moving Z-axis.
Holes - The hole-making features, such as drilling and tapping, are covered here separately from the milling features.
Also, BobCAM supports 2-axis cutting with laser, plasma, and waterjet machines. Click here for details of how to use these machines with BobCAM.
