The Stock Wizard and Machine Setup Tutorials

Introduction

This help topic describes the layout of and provides navigation through the Stock Wizard and Machine Setup tutorials. This information applies to both Mill and Mill Turn jobs.

Stock Creation

Before creating any CAM features, you must create stock from which the part is cut. If you try to add a CAM feature before creating stock, you are prompted to first run the Stock Wizard.

 

All Stock Wizard parameters are explained in the Stock Wizard topic. An overview of the main areas of the Stock Wizard and Machine Setup is provided next.

How to access the Stock Wizard

To open the Stock Wizard, do one of the following:

New Job

  1. When creating a new job: in the Machining Job dialog box, select the job type, machine, and click Stock Wizard.

    The Workpiece dialog appears.

    This will allow you to select a solid body to represent the final part. This is what will appear as the workpiece in the Simulation.

  2. Select a solid.

    It added to the Selected Geometry list.

  3. Whether or not geometry has been selected for the Workpiece, click .

  4. Select the Stock Type.

  5. Complete the remainder of the Stock Definition dialog as needed.

  6. Click .

  7. Define the Machine Setup.

  8. Click OK.

Existing Job

  1. After creating a job: in the CAM tree, right-click Stock, and click Stock Wizard.

  2. Update the Stock Type as needed.

  3. Complete the remainder of the Stock Definition dialog as needed.

  4. Click OK.
