Edges: Multiblade

Introduction

This topic will explain the options found in the Edges tab of the Multiblade operation.

Edges

With the Contour option set to either Full (trim trailing edges) or Full (trim trailing/leading edges) in the Pattern group of the Surface paths page, the Edges page becomes available. The Edges tab allows you to apply edge rolling or Edge extensions to the Leading / Trailing edge.

Edge rolling

This option allows you to apply a distance from the trailing/leading edges to end the toolpath.

  • Leading edge - retracts the toolpath from the leading edge of the part.

  • Trailing edge - retracts the toolpath from the trailing edge of the part.

Edge extension

  • Tangential - The toolpath will get a tangential extension either at the leading or trailing edge. Tangential means that the toolpath will be extended in cutting direction.

  • Radial - The toolpath will get a radial extension either at the leading or trailing edge. Radial means that the extension points to the rotation center in case of leading edge. In case of trailing edge the extension points away from the rotation center.

Extensions

When using the Swarf strategy for Blade finishing, this group becomes available.

  • Type

    • Automatic - allows the system to define the tool angle at the start and end.

      • Extension length at start - defines the length of the extension at the start of the cut.

      • Extension length at end - defines the length of the extension at the end of the cut.

    • Align to edges - aligns to the edges at the beginning and end of the swarf cut.

      • Extension length at start - defines the length of the extension at the start of the cut.

      • Extension length at end - defines the length of the extension at the end of the cut.

    • Start/End with angle - allows you to define an angle to begin and end with.

      • Start angle - defines the angle to use at the start of the cut.

      • End angle - defines the angle to use at the end of the cut.
