The CAM Defaults Overview

Introduction

The CAM Default folder that displays at the top of the CAM Tree contains commands to many default CAM settings as well as job creation. These commands are accessed by using the right-click shortcut menu.

Default Machining Settings and Job Creation

To display a shortcut menu with the following items, right-click CAM Defaults.

 

CAM Defaults

    • New Job - opens the Machining Job dialog box for you to select a job type, machine, and Default Parameter Template.

    • Job From Template - opens the Machining Job dialog box for you to select a job type, and Job Template.

    • Current Settings - opens the Current Settings dialog for you to define various machine and posting defaults as well as machine creation.

    • Cutting Conditions - opens the Cutting Conditions Parameters dialog for you to define the cutting conditions for hole drilling and tapping operations.


    • DMS Defaults - opens the DMS Defaults dialog box for you to modify the operation templates that are used for all feature types.

    • Tool Library - opens the Tool Library for you to create and/or modify the tool database.

    • Mill Tool Holders - opens the Milling Tool Holder Library for you  to create and/or modify the milling tool holders and arbors.

    • Adapter Library - opens the Adapter Library for you to define all of your tool holding adapters for mill-turn machines.


    • Thread Library - opens the Thread Library dialog box for you to define the parameters for all tap thread types.


    • Material Library - opens the Stock Material Library for you to define the speeds and feeds used for all materials.

 

Note: There are a few default CAM settings, such as machining tolerances, in the Settings dialog.
