WHAT IS SUBSCRIPTION PACKAGE?
The Subscription Package allows users to “rent” one or more licenses of the BobCAD CAM products being offered on subscription for a minimum period of one year. These licenses can be renewed every year for any number of years in accordance with the terms of this program. Subscription licenses are functionally identical with the traditional (Perpetual) licenses that BobCAD-CAM has traditionally offered and only differs in the allowed time span of usage.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SUBSCRIPTION PACKAGE LICENSE AND A PERPETUAL LICENSE
The main differences between the Perpetual and Subscription licenses offered are explained below.
- The initial software acquisition costs of Subscription Licenses are significantly less (over 30%) than those of Perpetual Licenses.
- Subscription Licenses are paid annually while Perpetual Licenses involve a large upfront purchase cost and a smaller annually recurring (optional) maintenance cost.
- The effect of the smaller entry cost and higher recurring costs of the Subscription License is to spread out the total cost of the software acquisition and use over multiple years.
- Perpetual Licenses, as the name suggests, will continue allowing the software to function in perpetuity, provided operating system and other systems that the software is dependent upon are not obsoleted. Subscription Licenses on the other hand will have to be paid annually to keep the software functioning.
WHAT DO CUSTOMERS GET WITH A SUBSCRIPTION PACKAGE LICENSE?
Customers who have active subscriptions are eligible for the following benefits:
- All Software Updates: Customers will be eligible for all software updates that are released by BobCAD-CAM including both service releases as well as major version upgrades. Customers never have to worry about being on the latest version of the software.
- Optional Add On’s
- Email Support
- Standard Support
- Subscription Only Modules: BobCAD-CAM offers certain modules that are available to customers who have a Subscription Package license which include: Mill Express, Mill Standard, Lathe, BobART.
