BobCAD’s V30 offers multiple drilling methods for 2-5 Axis hole processing. When drilling holes, users can pick from points, arcs (arc segments), or cylindrical faces to define their hole sizes and locations.
Drilling is made easy with the drilling wizard, providing fool-proof steps for machining your part. Just select all your hole geometry and the drill wizard will list out each of the hole sizes based on your geometry selection. You can pick or define the depth, even override the hole size, the control is all in your hands.
Drilling holes on the top of bosses or down inside pockets? BobCAD’s hole groups allow you to program and process holes that start and stop at different locations. You can either pull this info off your solid, or you can pick them from the CAD interface, it’s that simple.
Using BobCAD’s hole groups is a great way to drill in 3 Axis. If you’re dealing with holes that are following the curvature of a surface, maybe water lines for some tooling, BobCAD’s hole groups is a great way to machine these types of holes.
Are you currently using a 4 Axis or Mill Turn machine? Then you need to use Cross Drilling. Choose Cross Drill to find your axis of rotation, select your model and choose okay. BobCAD will automatically find the holes that intersect with the axis of rotation and program them for you… how great is that?
If you’re drilling 5 Axis holes, then you need to utilize Multiaxis Drill. Choose Multiaxis Drill and select your hole geometry. BobCAD will give you an arrow to indicate the direction of the hole, if you are happy, choose okay and process your 5 Axis holes… it’s that easy!
