In lieu of Tech Tuesday last week, myself and BobCAD Partner Department Director, Alex Cole drove to attend South-tec at the TD Convention Center in Greenville, South Carolina. The event was hosted from October 24-26 and brought manufacturing suppliers, distributors and equipment builders from all over the world to showcase their stuff.
South-tec features hundreds of vendors and even more attendees who have access to all the latest technologies and services in the industry. Additionally, they get to meet the experts who build them and see live products or demonstrations on the spot.

Alex and I were there to meet with local vendors and distributors to reinforce, build and grow the BobCAD-CAM Partner Program. We also met with key OEM representatives attending the show to discuss future software development ideas and plans. We are always striving to make a better CAD-CAM system here at BobCAD, paying attention to industry trends and investing in the latest technology.
The show was packed wall-to-wall with some amazing vendors and products, almost like Disney World for machinists! From sorting machines to Mill Turning, it was almost unbelievable to see materials go from raw blocks of steel to recognizable images like this Darth Vader head.
As we drove back to Clearwater from Greenville, we felt confident that our software is right on par with other industry leaders. We also left with some more ideas on how to make our next version of CAD-CAM software even better! As someone who is new to the industry, it was really fun watching machines cut up close. The best way I can compare it is it’s like a modern version of watching Michelangelo turning a block of marble into the David statue; truly an art form.
