“I use a Haas VF3-SS mill, and a ST-30 Haas lathe. I bought the mill about 4 years ago, ordered BobCAD-CAM software for machining, and here we are. All of the fixtures I use I built from scratch. I have used your software to machine engine blocks and Billet intake manifolds, which is just 4-axis positioning, since I had the machine. I feel like your software grew with my needs, and I have never had to use anything else. I have been waiting for you to come out with the multi-axis for a couple years, and I must say I am impressed. I have been able to do things that I never could before (correctly). You can always figure out a way to get around a problem, but with the multi, I can do it the right way.
“The thing I like the most about the V25 is the “add index” feature. To be able to select a surface and it gives you the index is priceless considering how I used to have to rotate the part on the screen, figure the angle, etc. Now you just click it and cut it.
“When I design anything, I try to look at it with an open mind, and not be held back by the limitations that others might be intimidated by. I see what I need to do, and I figure out a way to do it. When I designed the engine that I sent you the pics of, I basically designed the cylinder heads from scratch, figured out how to fit it into available head castings, then built the valvetrain around it, constantly working the 2 entities together as not to create any problems that would hinder the performance of the package. Being able to machine the block, build the camshaft from scratch, and design and build the complete induction system gives me the capabilities to do anything I could ever dream of.
“My dad and I started racing in 1993, and since then we have been very successful in the NHRA circuit. We have set over 70 national records, and won numerous events. As I move on to the next level, I will use BC to make my ideas become a reality.
“This is a video of me setting the national record for the highly competitive SS/AH class:
“This picture is of a custom designed Ford 427 drag racing engine. I machined the engine block, made the camshaft, made all the valvetrain, and am making the intake manifold now. I machined every part using BobCAD V24 or 25.
“My customer currently holds the national record in his class, and I feel that this design should give him another 40hp when we get it all worked out.”
