Tech Tuesday is a weekly blog that addresses some of the most common questions and concerns that I hear throughout the previous week from users of BobCAD-CAM software. Both customers and future customers are more than welcome to leave a comment on what they would like to see covered for the following Tech Tuesday. Enjoy!
With BobCAD-CAM’s latest CNC software, users can take advantage of our Solid Imprint feature to create tooling for various projects. Creating an imprint is a pretty simple thing to do in BobCAD software. For starters, you’ll need some wireframe boundaries and a solid model.
In our toolbar, we will go to the ‘Solids’ menu and select ‘Imprint’ from the dropdown list. We now want to click on and select the wireframe boundaries we created, followed by selecting our solid model.

Enter your email below:Once we have selected our wireframe boundaries and our solid model, then we are going to change our ‘Distance’. Essentially, we are setting the height in which to intersect with our solid. Choose ‘OK’ to finish the operation and there you have it, your very own customized tooling.
The Solid Imprint feature is really like a boolean process; essentially a faster way to create tooling to hold your parts. Thank you so much for reading another Tech Tuesday.

Dear BobCad
Sorry I don’t see any huge difference of just using the boolean process, unless of course it gives a bit of dimensional value changes.
Also — when is V31 coming out and what is changes did you make in V31compared to V30?
Thank you
Kindest Regards
Grant Goracy
V31 is out now! Some huge improvements in V31, most notably the ribbon bar! Feel free to call us today for more information!
