Tech Tuesday is a weekly blog that addresses some of the most common questions and concerns that I hear throughout the previous week from users of BobCAD’s CNC software. In V33, BobCAD-CAM has implemented a new feature called Hole Feature Recognition. You can now simply click on a 3-D model, and BobCAD-CAM will detect all four hole types and each of their variations. This includes:
When using the Hole Feature Recognition, the program groups all of the different hole types and their variations into separate drilling features. You have full control of the top of each feature, the total depth, whether you want to chamfer any of the holes or not, and what the exact hole type you are trying to set up for each operation.
This Hole Recognition Feature also includes a Knowledge Base that saves all of the settings you normally use for each hole type. Depending on a certain depth, a drilling cycle will automatically use a peck drilling operation versus a drilling operation at the full depth. If there is a chamfer with a diameter larger than a certain value that you input, the default operation will be a chamfer mill instead of a chamfer drill. These examples are only a few settings you can customize to default all of the drilling operations that you consistently use.
