Tech Tuesday is a weekly blog that addresses some of the most common questions and concerns that I hear throughout the previous week from users of BobCAD’s CNC software. Both customers and future customers are more than welcome to leave a comment on what they would like to see covered for the following Tech Tuesday. If you missed last week’s Tech Tuesday, click here.
Thank you for joining us in another wonderful edition of Tech Tuesday! This article features a top 7 collection of 3D-related Quick Tip videos will teach you how to limit your 3D toolpaths, controlling where you do and don’t cut. Having this kind of control over where your tool goes means your software is delivering consistent, quality parts that your clients will love.
1. Stock Geometry
Use your stock geometry to control your 3D toolpaths. By adjusting the size of your stock geometry, you can control where toolpath is created.
2. Geometry Selection
Use your selected geometry to control your 3D toolpaths. By adding to or taking from your selection, you can control where toolpath is created.
3. Boundary
Use a boundary to control your 3D toolpaths. By adding a boundary you can isolate areas of your model you want to machine.

4. Depth Options
Use depth options to control your 3D toolpaths. By adjusting the top of job and bottom of job, you can control where toolpath is created.
5. Angle Range
Use angle range to control your 3D toolpaths. By adjusting the angle range you can control where toolpath is created.
6. Operation Stock
Use operation stock to control your 3D toolpath. By selection operation stock, you can define your in-process stock and control where you toolpath is created.
7. Check Surfaces
Use check surfaces to control your 3D toolpath. By selecting check surfaces you can trim away toolpath controlling where you toolpath is created.
That rounds off the list of 7 effective ways users can control their 3D toolpath in BobCAD. What did you think? Please leave us a comment below! Thank you for reading another Tech Tuesday; see you next week!
